information about mehmetçik:
Mehmet is the optional name of "Mohammed" and and turkish people are not chose the name of Mohammed for their children because of the respect of Hz. Mohammed(S.A.V)
because we cant know our son's behaves in the future , he can be a bad person who is carrying the name of Hz. Mohammed(S.A.V)

so we use usually Mehmet (sorry my english is perhaps not enough for telling this story )

in the other hand we can say "Mehmet" name is the traditional name for us ...
lots of people carrying this name (so there are lots of in the army as private soldiers)

and Mehmetcik means : "dear mehmet"


theese are the turkish names (male)

this work is done for turkish soldiers and turkey
"mehmetçik" means: its a special name for turkish soldiers
